HIGHLAND — Pick up the kids on Sunday, Oct. 5, and come on over to Ss. Anthony and Philip Church, 726 Main St. in Highland. There is lots of parking!
We start our Oktoberfest at 9 a.m. with a Polka Mass. If you’ve never praised the Lord this way, this is a unique and lively experience.
Then come outside for a cup of free coffee and nibbles and watch your kids help smash the pumpkin piñata and compete in a seed spitting contest. Let yourself be decorated with Mr. Greene’s balloons.
Walk downstairs and watch the Giant Pumpkin Weigh-off, the judging of the Best Pumpkin or Apple Dessert contest, or watch your kids decorate a pumpkin to enter into a contest. The whole family can then sit down to a delicious German meal that rivals some of your great-grandmother’s recipes from the old world.
Watch or join the pie eating contest or sign up for the stein holding contest. Visit our country store or examine and purchase handcrafted jewelry — all this with the polka band playing in the background. Kids will enjoy outdoor relay games from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.
We’re not done yet. Enjoy bidding in our giant live auction and participate in our raffle drawing.
We’re sure that after a day at our Oktoberfest, you’ll return home satisfied, filled with fond memories, and perhaps a little tired.
We look forward to seeing you, and check out our event at www.ssanthonyandphilip.com for all the times and details, including a list of all auction items or call 608-929-7490.
