MADISON/EVANSVILLE — Joining memorial services around the world on Sunday, Dec. 13, people in Madison and Evansville will hold candle lighting services in conjunction with the Compassionate Friends, an international self-help support organization for families grieving the death of a child.
The Madison service will be held 6 p.m. at St. Peter Church, 5001 N. Sherman Ave., Madison, and will also feature music, poems, and a photo presentation of children remembered.
A service of remembrance for people of all faiths to remember, honor, and celebrate their loved ones who have died will be held on Sunday, Dec. 13, at 7 p.m., at St. Paul Catholic Church, 39 Garfield Ave., Evansville. Refreshments and fellowship will follow in the lower level.
Internationally, candles are first lit at 7 p.m. just west of the International Date Line. As candles burn down in one time zone, they are lit in the next, creating a virtual 24-hour wave of light as the observance continues around the world.
