MADISON — The Madison Diocesan Choir is pleased to recognize Elizabeth Youra as the 2022 winner of the Patrick Gorman Youth Pastoral Musician Scholarship.
Youra is a student at Portage High School and sings in the choir, plays piano, and cantors at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Parish in Portage.
She started singing with the choir when she was nine years old.
While she joined the choir because she loves singing, she continues to sing because it’s a way to give back to God for the talents He has given.
Youra attended the Music for All Summer Symposium in Muncie, Ind., this summer.
The Patrick Gorman Youth Pastoral Musician Scholarship is open to students entering grade seven to 12 in the Diocese of Madison who participate in music ministries in their parishes, who are attending summer music camps, and who complete the scholarship application including an essay on why they participate in music ministry.
