MADISON — The UW-Madison student organization Badger Catholic invites all students and their friends to attend the organization’s first Speaker Event, “Breaking Boundaries,” featuring George Weigel.
Weigel, distinguished senior fellow of the Ethics and Public Policy Center, in Washington, D.C., will speak on Wednesday, Oct. 23, at 7 p.m., in the Gordon Dining and Event Center.
During the presentation, students will have the opportunity to learn more about the topic of “Evangelical Catholicism” as the Church begins to embrace the culture of the 21st century.
“It is the same Church, the same faith, and above all, the same Lord,” stressed Weigel. Nonetheless, he expresses immense interest in the necessity for a threshold of a new era in the midst of a 2,000-year history of the Church.Weigel, who also wrote Blessed John Paul II’’s famous biography, encourages all Catholics to break the boundaries of the Church and go out into a mission territory on a day-to-day basis. His talk is the perfect opportunity to learn more about Catholicism in the 21st century.
“We’re pleased to host George Weigel’s ‘Breaking Boundaries’, especially during this pivotal time in history,” said Badger Catholic president, Sean McNally. “Our premise is to inform each and every student about this interesting new way of expressing the faith.”
