HIGHLAND — The Feast of St. Philip the Apostle will be celebrated with a Mass on Sunday, May 4, at 1 p.m. at St. Philip Church.
Through the efforts of many supporters, St. Philip Church — built in 1888 — has been well preserved. It is a significant part of the SS. Anthony and Philip Parish community and the Highland community as a whole.
All current and former members of the parish as well as friends are invited to gather in Highland for this occasion. This Mass will recognize memorials of former parishioners and community members.Food and refreshments will be provided after the Mass in the lower level. Drawings for an Irish chain quilt made and donated by Susan Welsh and other items will also occur at this time.
The St. Philip Preservation Association of Highland has taken over the maintenance and operation of St. Philip Church for the parish. There are a few Masses celebrated at St. Philip Church throughout the year. The church is also available for Catholic funerals and weddings.
One of the unique features of St. Philip Church is the large stained glass rose window. A new campaign is underway to provide for some needed maintenance of the window.
All interested persons are invited to help give tribute to St. Philip and learn more about his history. Thank you to all members of the parish family for their help in keeping St. Philip the beautiful Catholic church we have been blessed with for so many years.
