MADISON — Dr. Scott Flanagan officially becomes the seventh president of Edgewood College at the inauguration ceremony at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 24, in the Todd Wehr Edgedome on campus.
The ceremony marks the close of a weeklong celebration of the new president who took over leadership of the college on August 1.
The inauguration features an academic procession of dignitaries representing colleges and universities from Wisconsin and beyond.
The public is invited to attend, and the proceedings will be webcast live on www.edgewood.eduDr. Flanagan has served Edgewood College since 1998 as dean of admissions and financial aid, vice president for planning and enrollment, interim chief financial officer, and most recently as executive vice president. In addition, he has regularly taught a doctoral course in higher education finance.
Dr. Flanagan previously served as director of admissions, director of athletics, and assistant vice president for enrollment services at the University of Saint Francis in Ft. Wayne, Ind., where freshman classes tripled during his five years of leadership.
He has been a frequent presenter at national conferences on trends in higher education, strategic planning, enrollment management, leadership, and change management.
While a member of the Oregon, Wis., Board of Education, Dr. Flanagan was a key contributor to “Accountability for Student Achievement,” a policy paper which received recognition from the National Association of School Boards.
Dr. Flanagan serves on the board of the Urban League of Greater Madison and recently served as a member of the Commission on Financial Aid Consolidation and Modernization created to improve financial aid in Wisconsin.
