MADISON — The Edgewood Campus School Board of Directors are pleased to welcome Paul Gessner, a highly regarded 26 year educator and Catholic school administrator, as its first President following the separation of this position from the role of principal.
Gessner has served as a public school educator beginning in 1997, then public school administrator starting in 2005, and most recently Catholic school administrator since 2012. Gessner comes to Edgewood from a Catholic high school in Athens, Ga.; prior to that he was school head at St. Joan Antida High School in Milwaukee.
Gessner succeeds retiring President / Principal, Anne Palzkill, who has led the Campus School since 2016.
“I am excited to join the Edgewood Campus School community,” said Gessner. “The interview process allowed me to see how special this community is when caring for the individual needs of students. I am looking forward to working with the Board of Directors, Principal Lauren Costello, and the faculty and staff through the model of servant leader established by Anne Palzkill during her tenure as school leader.”
Board Chairperson and search committee member, Porter Martin, commented on the strength of Gessner’s qualifications saying, “we are extremely grateful to our search committee for yielding dozens of applicants. Paul Gessner was the clear choice and is an excellent fit for our school community.”
Martin noted that there are several projects that will expand access to Edgewood Campus school and that Gessner has a clear vision for moving these initiatives forward.
