EDGERTON — Edgerton Hospital and Health Services (EHHS), affiliated with the SSM Network sponsored by the Franciscan Sisters of Mary, has secured financing and will be moving ahead with plans to build a new hospital.
The $26 million dollar hospital will be located on a 69-acre site east of Edgerton on Highway 59.
The hospital has been awarded a Federal Housing Administration (FHA) mortgage insurance loan giving it the financial backing it needs to begin construction.
Commented Jim Pernau, CEO of Edgerton Hospital and Health Services. “Our community is growing and has unique needs. This new facility will be able to meet those needs while exceeding everyone’s expectations.”
Said Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin (D-WI), “With federal support, the Edgerton Hospital project will create much-needed jobs, improve health care services, and save money. This is great news to start off the new year.”
Hospital services include inpatient, outpatient, surgical, diagnostic, 24-hour emergency care, urgent care, and rehabilitation.
The hospital’s foundation has received $1.6 million in pledges and donations. It’s looking to the community for further support in reaching its goal of $3.1 million.
Construction will begin on the hospital in early 2010 with completion expected in spring 2011.
Edgerton Hospital was founded in 1923 and serves Edgerton, Milton, and surrounding communities. It is a limited affiliate of SSM Health Care. For more details, visit www.edgertonhospital.com
