MADISON — You’re invited to a series of talks by Deacon Harold Burke-Sivers — known as the “Dynamic Deacon”. On Sunday, Sept. 19, and Monday, Sept. 20, he’ll be speaking at Our Lady Queen of Peace (QOP) Church in Madison, 401 S. Owen Dr.
He’ll be giving two talks on September 19. The first is: “Living a Eucharistic Faith: The Big Deal About Mass and Why It Matters” from 1 to 2 p.m. The second is: “Building a Civilization of Love: A Catholic Response to Racism” from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
His talk on the 20th is: “Go and Make Disciples: The Call to Evangelization” from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
You can join in on the discussion before Deacon Harold’s talks.
On Monday, Sept. 13, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., there will be a discussion centered on Deacon Harold’s “The method is Love: a Catholic response to racism” article, which introduces the themes of his talk. Staff member Cheryl Horne will be the facilitator.
You can pre-register by emailing Horne at cheryl.horne@qopc.org by Sunday, Sept. 12.
Copies of the article are available in the QOP gathering space or you can read it online at: https://deaconharold.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Angelus-Catholic-Response-to-Racism.png
Following Deacon Harold’s talks, there will be an ongoing discussion group that will start one to two weeks later. There will be in-person and virtual options available. The goal is to faithfully explore what each of us can do to eliminate racism in ourselves, our community, and the wider world.
