BARABOO — Two different retreat weekends are planned for Durward’s Glen Retreat and Conference Center in Baraboo featuring Abbot Marcel Rooney, who has extensive knowledge of sacred liturgy, music, and art.
The theme for his talks will be “Making Holy Mass a Dynamic Force in Our Christian Lives.” During three talks at the two retreats, Abbot Rooney will focus on the components of the liturgy of the Mass and its relationship to our spiritual life and growth.
Abbot Rooney served as abbot primate of the Benedictine Federation from 1996 to 2000. Since retirement from that position, he has been leading the Orate Institute of Sacred Liturgy, Music, and Art, which he founded.The weekends will include time for the Sacrament of Reconciliation, Mass, Adoration, and personal reflection.
Members of the Knights of Columbus will hold a Men’s Retreat on July 17 to 18 from 6 p.m. Friday night until noon on Saturday. The program is part of the Knights’ greater “Training in Holiness” Program.
The second retreat, “Making Holy Mass a Dynamic Force in Our Christian Lives,” is open to the greater Catholic community and will be held July 31 to August 1 from 6 p.m. Friday until noon on Saturday.
For both retreats, participants can register for an overnight stay with the retreat activities and meals for $95 or register for the retreat activities and meal only for $40.
