MADISON — Following new developments and guidelines related to the COVID-19 pandemic, Mass guidelines in the Diocese of Madison related to COVID will cease on Friday, June 11 — the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
Active county civil orders will still be applied along with a diocesan-wide encouragement to follow CDC guidelines.
Separate guidelines related to Catholic schools in the diocese will continue under the Office of Schools.
This decision by the diocese comes after new CDC guidelines that those who are fully vaccinated do not need to wear masks or physically-distance.
Other factors included Dane County’s recent announcement that all county COVID-19 related orders will cease at the expiration of Emergency Order #16 on June 2, along with the previous terminations of the Rock County mask order, and the City of Beloit order, and the end of the City of Watertown order.
Public Health Madison & Dane County recently announced that Dane County has a 1.4 percent positivity rate.
Hospitalizations are trending downward and cases have nearly disappeared in populations of 70-plus years of age.
In regards to vaccinations, 63.3 percent of the Dane county population (including children) now has at least one dose, and the 12-15 year age group has coverage rapidly increasing with 24.3 percent of that age group with one dose.
