To the editor:
The battle against late-term abortions at the Madison Surgery Center continues even after their February vote to proceed with plans to brutally dismember babies between 19 to 22 weeks of age. Our publicly-funded, flagship University of Wisconsin-Madison has put its stamp of approval on this atrocity. This decision “mainstreams” late-term abortions — offering them in the same state-of-the-art clinic where people receive a variety of medical treatments.
Instead of retreating, Pro-Life Wisconsin (PLW) has developed a comprehensive strategy to continue to pressure the UW, Meriter, and the Madison Surgery Center. It includes:
• Television commercials focusing on the humanity of pre-born babies and the violence of abortion. These commercials direct people to a new Web site (www.NoUWabortions.com) serving as a virtual hub equipping Wisconsinites to oppose the new late-term abortion center.
• A boycott of the Madison Surgery Center and a patient letter-writing campaign to physicians informing them that we will never utilize services provided by the center. The patient letter can be accessed at www.NoUWabortions.com
• A regular presence outside the new abortion center. Faithful Pro-life Wisconsinites in Madison have truly been our heroes during this campaign — and the educational, prayerful presence on the corners of Park and Regent Sts. will continue!
Our efforts to stop this late-term abortion center in the heart of our state’s capital have galvanized Wisconsinites — some of whom had never been actively involved in the pro-life movement. We need them to stay engaged, involved, and passionate.
Ask anyone what they think about aborting babies at 19 to 22 weeks and the vast majority is appalled. PLW is utilizing this outrage to educate and change hearts.
Please help us keep the momentum going. Visit www.NoUWabortions.com to find out how you can get involved. This campaign will have long-lasting effects in our struggle to restore personhood to each and every pre-born baby.
