MADISON — Bishop Robert C. Morlino has authorized parishes in the Diocese of Madison — at the discretion of the pastor — to have a special collection for relief of victims of violence and persecution in Iraq, particularly for displaced Iraqi religious minorities. Funds collected will be sent to Catholic Relief Services (CRS).
Pope Francis has also called for prayers and concrete assistance for the suffering populations of Iraq.
As in the past with disaster relief/humanitarian effort special collections, parishes should send collection proceeds to the Office of Finance at the Diocese of Madison.
Individuals can also donate directly to Catholic Relief Services/Caritas online for displaced families in Iraq via the CRS website at www.crs.org
