MONROE — The Rural Life Office of the Diocese of Madison announces that a “Raise Your Voice” Climate Change Advocacy Workshop will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, at St. Victor Parish Catholic School in Monroe.
The National Catholic Rural Life Conference (NCRLC) will lead this workshop with the intent of increasing among Catholics their knowledge about climate change and its impact on poor and vulnerable people, identify what Catholics can do individually and collectively to work to mitigate climate change, and demonstrate how Catholics can affect local, state, and federal climate change policy through work with media and their elected government officials.
The advocacy skills are not limited to climate change alone and will serve to advance techniques useful to other social justice work of parishes and communities.
A lunch will be served at noon, prepared by a Green County chef using locally grown produce of the area.
Pre-registration is suggested to avoid food waste and prepare a proper sized space for this one-time event in the diocese. Meal price will be $7 with pre-registration or $9 at the door.
Pre-register by contacting Tom Nelson, diocesan Rural Life Office, at 608-821-3093 or e-mail tom.nelson@straphael.org
