MADISON — CareWisconsin and Catholic Charities-Madison jointly announce the transition of Care Wisconsin’s Adult Day Center to Catholic Charities-Madison, effective July 1, 2012.
The program, which serves an average of 70 seniors daily, will continue to operate out of the existing facility at 2917 International Ln., on Madison’s north side. The program will begin accepting new members immediately.
According to Brian Cain, president of Catholic Charities, “The Adult Day Center operation is an ideal fit with the mission of Catholic Charities to maximize independence and dignity for our aging population. We are proud to be acquiring such a well established and highly regarded program.”
“We have chosen to stop being a provider of adult day services and to focus on our core activity of managing the state’s publicly funded health and long-term care programs,” said Karen Musser, CEO of Care Wisconsin. “We are very pleased that the Adult Day Center will remain open and that an experienced, trusted organization — Catholic Charities — will operate the facility.”
“The Adult Day Center is an important community asset that supports seniors in maintaining their independence and social support, while providing a sense of security for both members and caregivers,” said Cain.
The Adult Day Center began in 1976 and receives funding through the Care Wisconsin’s Partnership Program, United Way of Dane County, Dane County Human Services, and private pay members.
Deedra Atkinson from United Way of Dane County said, “I am very happy that Catholic Charities will provide this valuable service that helps over 200 of our community seniors.”
Since 1946, Catholic Charities, Madison helps those in need in south central Wisconsin with 35 programs reaching out to individuals, children, families, seniors, persons with developmental disabilities, or persons with alcohol/drug addiction — serving over 60,000 persons annually.
In 1990, Catholic Charities began programs to service the aging population in Madison. For more information, visit www.ccmadison.org
