Dear Friends in Christ:
As Bishop of Madison, I am pleased to designate Sunday, October 15, as Catholic Charities Sunday in the Diocese of Madison.
Catholic Charities’ mission embodies our Catholic values, teachings, and traditions. They continue to act as the charitable arm of the Church for the Diocese of Madison, helping those who are hungry, who are disabled, who need mental health or family counseling, who are homeless, or who seek help with alcohol or drug abuse.
Let us join with Catholic Charities as they work to strengthen families and our communities. Let us reflect on our personal responsibility and that of our parish community to participate in the Corporal Works of Mercy and the outreach of the Church through the opportunities afforded us by Catholic Charities.
In the words of Pope Francis, “How beautiful it is to love one another as true brothers and sisters. How beautiful! Let’s do something today.” Let us, in fact, do something today to help love and serve our brothers and sisters! May we fulfill our call to charity and the truth through the good works of Catholic Charities.
Please continue to pray for and support Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Madison, particularly on Catholic Charities Sunday — October 15, 2017.
Faithfully Yours in Christ,
The Most Reverend Robert C. Morlino
Bishop of Madison
