Dear Friends in Christ,
As Bishop of Madison, I am pleased to designate Sunday, October 11, as Catholic Charities Sunday in the Diocese of Madison.
Catholic Charities embodies our Catholic values, teachings, and traditions, which are the foundation of all they do. Catholic Charities carries on the sacred heritage of our Christian faith established 2,000 years ago, and across time, they heed “the call of the early Church to make sure all needs are met.” Catholic Charities acts as the charitable arm of the Catholic Church in the Diocese of Madison by:
Supporting Families — Catholic Charities believes that the family is critical in a flourishing society, and encourages strong and healthy families and helps provide children the best situation in which to thrive.
Caring for the Poor — Catholic Charities believes the needs of the poor and vulnerable must be put first.
Upholding All Life as Precious — Catholic Charities believes that every person has inherent dignity and that the measure of every institution is whether it threatens or enhances the life and dignity of the human person.
Let us join with Catholic Charities as they work to strengthen families and nurture children. Let us reflect on our personal responsibility and that of our parish community to participate in the outreach of the Church through the opportunities afforded by Catholic Charities. Let us fulfill our call to charity and truth through the good works of Catholic Charities.
Please continue to pray for Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Madison and particularly on Catholic Charities Sunday — October 11, 2015.
Faithfully yours in Christ,
The Most Reverend Robert C. Morlino
Bishop of Madison
