Catholic Cemeteries Week will be celebrated from Sunday, May 28, to Saturday, June 3.
As part of diocesan efforts to promote Catholic burial practices and prayer for the dead during that week, there will be Masses, a special indulgence, and a photo contest.
Priests will be invited to participate in the Memorial Day Homily Contest.
We will also be looking for ways to encourage Rosary walks at cemeteries, grave decorating, and pre-planning.
All Catholic Cemeteries Week materials will feature a new logo.
Students in grades six to 12 are invited to submit their proposals for the Catholic Cemeteries Week logo for a chance to win $500 toward Catholic education and a copy of Hope to Die: The Christian Meaning of Death and the Resurrection of the Body by Dr. Scott Hahn and Emily Stimpson Chapman.
The entry deadline is Tuesday, Feb. 28.
