Twins are ‘Principals for a Day’ in Fort Atkinson
FORT ATKINSON — For the second year in a row, St. Joseph School in Fort Atkinson Principal Kari Homb gave up her seat for a day and let the students take over.
Second-graders Bray and Christian Polk were Principals for a Day on February 5 — the final day of Catholic Schools Week.
The boys won the chance to be principal when their parents — Peg and George Polk — won a raffle at the school’s annual Home and School Heart Gala Fundraiser earlier this year.
Edgewood, St. Ambrose students come together to celebrate Catholic Schools Week
MADISON — While many students may have hoped for a snow day, and extra sleep, on February 2, the day’s less than anticipated snow fall gave them an opportunity to give thanks and give back.
Edgewood High School (EHS) students, along with high school students from St. Ambrose Academy in Madison, arrived at the EHS Wilke Gymnasium this morning for a Mass celebrating Catholic Schools Week.
The annual celebration of Catholic education in the United States ran from January 31 to February 6. Schools across the diocese had a variety of fun and faith-filled events for students, faculty, and parents.
‘Hour of Code’ at St. John the Baptist, Jefferson
JEFFERSON — Students attending St. John the Baptist School in Jefferson celebrated Computer Science Education Week recently, by participating in the “Hour of Code” which introduces students to computer coding.
The program was developed by Code.org a non-profit organization dedicated to expanding participation in computer science across all grade levels.
Several partner organizations support the Hour of Code: Microsoft, Apple, Amazon, Boys and Girls Clubs of America, the College Board, and many others.
Frassati Fest for teens set for February 5 to 7
WISCONSIN DELLS — The annual Frassati Fest weekend for teens is set for Friday, Feb. 5, to Sunday, Feb. 7, at Kalahari Resorts and Conventions in Wisconsin Dells.
Frassati Fest provides inspiring catechesis, prayer, good conversation, and an opportunity for teens to dive deeper into the beauty of the Catholic faith with hundreds of their peers.
It’s called “the coolest weekend around for Catholic high school students in the Diocese of Madison.”

Students and staff in Jefferson present tribute to veterans
JEFFERSON — On Wednesday, Nov. 11, students and staff at St. John the Baptist Catholic School in Jefferson presented their annual tribute to veterans in the parish church.
The eighth grade students escorted guests to their seats after presenting them with flags and patriotic wristbands.
Principal Mrs. Susan Loof formally welcomed veterans and thanked them for their service to our country. She then offered a prayer for the veterans and their families.
