Catholic Herald correspondent John Braunwarth dies
JANESVILLE — John Braunwarth, 82, Janesville, a correspondent for the Catholic Herald for many years, died on Friday, Nov. 11, at his home.
He was born in Prentice, Wis., on July 14, 1929, the son of Dr. Isadore H. and Florence M. (Keenan) Braunwarth. He served in the U.S. Army as a medtech. He was a CEO of Armstrong Company, where he was a research chemist. During his lifetime he developed many patents.

Sister Elizabeth Cummings, OP (Sylvester), dies
SINSINAWA — Sister Elizabeth Cummings, OP (Sylvester), died Sept. 27, 2011, at St. Dominic Villa, Hazel Green, Wis. The funeral Mass was held in Queen of the Rosary Chapel at Sinsinawa Sept. 30, 2011, followed by burial in the Motherhouse Cemetery.
Sister Elizabeth made her first religious profession as a Sinsinawa Dominican Aug. 5, 1937, and her final profession Aug. 5, 1940. She taught in the primary grades for 10 years and the middle level grades for 38 years. Sister Elizabeth served as secretary at St. Rose of Lima School, Cuba City, Wis., for eight years and as support staff at the Motherhouse for eight years. She served in the District of Columbia, Illinois, Minnesota, Wyoming, South Dakota and Wisconsin.
Margaret Frisch, mother of Fr. Kenneth Frisch, dies
MADISON — Margaret “Marge” Frisch, age 98, mother of Fr. Kenneth Frisch, pastor of SS. Anthony and Philip Parish in Highland and St. Thomas Parish in Montfort, died Monday, Sept. 12, at Waunakee Manor Health Care Center in Waunakee.
School Sister of St. Francis Rose Zander (Columbana), dies
MILWAUKEE — School Sister of St. Francis Rose Zander (Columbana) died July 19, 2011 at Sacred Heart Convent, Milwaukee, Wis. The daughter of Jacob and Laura Zander, she was born February 10, 1929, in Cross Plains, Wis. She was received into the School Sisters of St. Francis June 13, 1946 and made first profession of vows June 21, 1948 and final (perpetual) vows June 21, 1954.
Sister Marie Mark Yerkey, OP, dies
SINSINAWA — Sr. Marie Mark Yerkey, OP, died July 20, 2011, at St. Dominic Villa, Hazel Green, Wis. The funeral Mass was held in Queen of the Rosary Chapel at Sinsinawa July 25, 2011, followed by burial in the Motherhouse Cemetery.
Sr. Marie Mark made her first religious profession as a Sinsinawa Dominican Aug. 5, 1945, and her final profession Aug. 5, 1948. She taught elementary school for 14 years, high school for 30 years, and adult education literacy classes for five years. Sister Marie Mark ministered at the Motherhouse, Sinsinawa, Wis., in the business office, the transportation department and the mail room. She served in Illinois, New York, Iowa, Wisconsin and Minnesota.
Fr. Philip Grasso dies
CUBA CITY — Fr. Philip Grasso, a priest of the Diocese of Madison, died Monday, July 18, at the Southwest Health Center Nursing Home in Cuba City, Wis. He was 92.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, 519 W. Roosevelt St., Cuba City, on Friday, July 22, at 11 a.m. Bishop Robert C. Morlino was the principal celebrant with Fr. John Norder as homilist.
Fr. Daniel Finnane dies
MADISON — Fr. Daniel Finnane, a priest of the Diocese of Madison who served as pastor of St. Mary of the Lake Parish in Westport, died on Saturday, June 25, at the age of 74 at the Don and Marilyn Anderson Hospicecare Center in Fitchburg.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Father Finnane was held Wednesday, June 29, at St. Patrick Church, 315 Cherry St., Janesville. Bishop Robert C. Morlino was the principle celebrant with Msgr. Gerard Healy as homilist.
