Sister Mary Kiley, OP, dies
SINSINAWA — Sister Mary Kiley, OP (Lorcan), died June 17, 2013, at St. Dominic Villa. The funeral Mass was held in Queen of the Rosary Chapel at Sinsinawa June 21, 2013, followed by burial in the Motherhouse Cemetery.
Sister Mary made her first religious profession as a Sinsinawa Dominican Aug. 5, 1953, and her final profession Aug. 5, 1956. She ministered in education for 44 years, teaching in elementary and intermediate grades for 23 years, early childhood for six years, and a before and after school program for 15 years. Sister Mary served as support staff at the motherhouse, Sinsinawa, for 14 years. She served in Minnesota, Illinois, Alabama, Wisconsin, New Jersey, and New York.
Sister Mary Owen Haggerty, OP, dies
SINSINAWA — Sister Mary Owen Haggerty, OP, died May 22, 2013. The funeral Mass was held in Queen of the Rosary Chapel at Sinsinawa May 30, 2013, followed by burial in the Motherhouse Cemetery.
Sister Mary Owen made her first religious profession as a Sinsinawa Dominican Aug. 5, 1952, and her final profession Aug. 5, 1955. She taught for one year, served in the health care field for 50 years, ministered as the coordinator of volunteers for the Motherhouse for 11 years, and served as pastoral assistant for seven years. She was well-known at the Dubuque (Iowa) Farmers’ Market for selling Sinsinawa bakery products. Sister Mary Owen served in Iowa, Wisconsin, Washington and Illinois.
Sister Jeanne Dion, OP, dies
SINSINAWA — Sister Jeanne Dion, OP, died May 17, 2013, at St. Dominic Villa. The funeral Mass was held in Queen of the Rosary Chapel at Sinsinawa May 21, 2013, followed by burial in the Motherhouse Cemetery.
Sister Jeanne made her first religious profession as a Sinsinawa Dominican Dec. 16, 1972, and her final profession May 22, 1976. She ministered as a secretary for 11 years, bookkeeper for seven years, pastoral associate for nine years, and parish administrator for eight years. Sister Jeanne served in Wisconsin, Illinois, South Carolina, Tennessee and Kentucky.

DODGEVILLE — Helen M. [Lawinger] Flanagan, age 91, mother of Fr. Dave Flanagan, pastor of St. Rose of Lima Parish, Cuba City, and St. Patrick Parish, Benton, died on Thursday, April 25, 2013, at Upland Hills Health Hospital in Dodgeville.
Visitation will be held Sunday, April 28, 2013 from 2 to 6 p.m. at Gorgen Funeral Home, 310 Ridge St., Mineral Point, Wis. and on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass at St. Mary & St. Paul Church in Mineral Point.

Marie Loring, age 94, died on Friday, March 22, 2013. She was born June 12, 1918, at rural Platteville, the daughter of Matt and Josephine (Siepker) Loring, the oldest of their ten children.

SINSINAWA — Sister Mary Nona McGreal, OP, died March 20, 2013, at St. Dominic Villa, Sinsinawa. The funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. in Queen of the Rosary Chapel at Sinsinawa Tuesday, March 26, 2013, followed by burial in the Motherhouse Cemetery. Friends may call after 5:15 p.m. Monday, March 25, 2013, at the Motherhouse, Sinsinawa, where a wake and remembering service will be held at 6:30 p.m.
Sister Mary Nona McGreal made her first religious profession as a Sinsinawa Dominican Sister March 8, 1933, and her final profession Aug. 5, 1936. She taught in elementary schools of the Congregation for eight years, including St. Clement, Sheboygan, Wis., 1933; St. Brendan, Chicago, 1933–1937; and St. Thomas the Apostle, Chicago, 1937–1941. Sister Mary Nona completed her graduate studies at the Catholic University of America, receiving her Ph.D. in 1951. With Sister Mary Joan Smith, OP, she developed a widely used new curriculum for U.S. Catholic schools, publishing the three-volume work Guiding Growth in Christian Social Living: A Curriculum for the Elementary School during the 1940s.
