Students enjoy ‘Bingo with the Bishop’
Students at St. Luke School in Plain kicked off Catholic Schools Week with ‘Bingo with the Bishop.’ The afternoon began with Bishop Donald J. Hying celebrating Mass at 12:30 p.m. During his homily, Bishop Hying spoke about the beauty of St. Luke’s church, which was built by the ancestors of some of the school students.

Jubilee sites in the Diocese of Madison
The Diocese of Madison has named six sites for pilgrimage during the Jubilee Year of Hope. The sites are: Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Monona, St. Cecilia Church in Wisconsin Dells, St. Bernard Church in Watertown, Nativity of Mary Church in Janesville, St. Mary Church in Fennimore, and the Schoenstatt Shrine in Madison.
The Jubilee Indulgence
A key part of a Jubilee celebration is the opportunity to gain an indulgence, which is “a remission before God of the temporal punishment due to sins whose guilt has already been forgiven, which the faithful Christian who is duly disposed gains under certain prescribed conditions through the actions of the Church which, as the minister of redemption, dispenses and applies with authority the treasury of the satisfactions of Christ and the saints” (CCC 1471).

An essential part of a Jubilee celebration is a pilgrimage. For the 2025 Jubilee, the Holy Father has asked all bishops around the world to designate sites in their dioceses as pilgrimage destinations, where the faithful may gain the Jubilee indulgence.
