Support for Marriage Rally to be held July 27
On Tuesday, July 27, supporters of marriage will gather at the State Capitol to show support for the sanctity of marriage and to show appreciation for a recent Wisconsin Supreme Court decision in favor of the state constitutional amendment.

VERONA — The final week of Love Begins Here could have been called “Extreme Church Makeover.”
Working outside in uninterrupted sun and what felt like enough heat to cook their dinner that night, groups of high school students painted the outside walls of St. Andrew Church in Verona and scrubbed the accumulated grime from the crucifix in the cemetery July 14. Another set of students was likewise engaged with cleaning and painting and other tasks at St. Bridget Church in Ridgeway.
These students had come from parishes and families around the Diocese of Madison to do work for those in need within the diocese.

College to sell Durward’s Glen
DURWARD’S GLEN — Magdalen College, a Catholic liberal arts college in Warner, N.H., has decided to sell Durward’s Glen, a Catholic retreat center located in the Baraboo bluffs about 30 miles north of Madison.
Local CCHD funds distributed
MADISON — As the nation’s bishops continue to scrutinize the distribution of the national portion of the U.S. Church’s annual Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD), Bishop Robert C. Morlino has assured the Diocese of Madison that all donations earmarked for local use will only benefit initiatives, groups, and programs consistent with authentic Catholic social teaching, as a matter of justice.

MADISON — Incense. Trumpets. A procession of priests and bishops. Knights of Columbus in their colorful regalia. Knights and Ladies of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre in their black and white garb.
All these elements added to the solemnity of the ordination Mass celebrated on Friday, June 25, at St. Maria Goretti Church.
Signs of great joy
But while it was a very serious occasion marked by reverence and tradition, the Mass and ordination rite were also filled with signs of great joy as Deacons David A. Carrano and Gregory S. Ihm were ordained to the priesthood for the Diocese of Madison.
