The Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead is the most beautiful and important event in all of human history! Without it, Jesus’ mission was an abject failure, we are trapped in our sins and bereft of any hope for eternal life!

Feeling Christ’s love during Holy Week
The Jewish celebration of Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, finds its origins in Leviticus 16, which lays out the complexity of the ritual for the people to atone for their sins and seek forgiveness from God.
Palm Sunday and the Passion
Every Holy Week, we listen to the proclamation of the Passion of Christ twice. On Palm Sunday, we hear from the Gospel of the current liturgical cycle, (this year, it is St. Luke) and on Good Friday, it is always the Passion from the Gospel of John.
We can convert like St. Paul
St. Paul is one of the most significant and influential figures in the Church, so much so that his conversion to Christ has its own liturgical memorial on January 25 every year.
Youth provide hope for the Church
Every month in this Jubilee Year dedicated to hope, I am writing one column on a particular ministry in the diocese which offers hope to others.
Perseverance in our faith
At this point of Lent, I usually need a little (or a lot) of encouragement to keep faithful to my commitments in this holy season, and so I am thinking that a reflection on perseverance is opportune, maybe for all of us.
Let us glorify Him
The Gospel for the Second Sunday of Lent is always the Transfiguration scene when Peter, James, and John momentarily glimpse the glory of the risen Christ.
Let us give our hearts to the Lord
In these recent weeks leading up to Lent, I have spent much time in prayer meditating on the heart — my heart, your heart, the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The Bible mentions “the heart” more than 700 times. We know the heart symbolizes our deepest self, the center of our emotions, desires, longings, and loves.
Living the mission of Christ
The practice of our Catholic faith finds its summary in the two-fold commandment given to us by Jesus: Love God with all our heart, soul, strength, and mind; and love our neighbor as ourselves.
Catholic Charities: A sign of God’s presence
Each month in this Jubilee Year, I am dedicating a column to an organization or ministry in our diocese which gives hope and inspiration to our people.
