Sr. Casimira Adasiewicz, who lived her religious vocation as a teacher and organist for 80 years, died on January 18, 2021, at Sacred Heart in Milwaukee. Sister Casimira was 99 years old.
She was born on October 27, 1921, in Stambaugh, Michigan. She was received into the School Sisters of St. Francis on June 13, 1939, made her first profession of vows in 1941, and final (perpetual) vows in 1947.
Sister Casimira is survived by nieces, nephews, and friends, and the School Sisters of St. Francis Community, with whom she shared her life for 81 years.
Beginning in 1941, Sister ministered in Illinois, Iowa, and Wisconsin for more than seven decades.
In the Diocese of Madison, Sister served as teacher/organist at St. John the Baptist School in Princeton (1948-1951), where she also served as principal/organist (1969-1970). She also ministered as teacher/organist at St. Mary School in Fennimore (1961-1962) and at St. Martin School in Martinsville (1962-1963).
In her retirement, Sister served in the ministry of prayer and presence at Sacred Heart in Milwaukee from 2019 until the time of her death.
Sister chose to donate her body to medical science. A private funeral service was held on February 11, 2021 at St. Joseph Chapel in Milwaukee.
