COLUMBUS — St. Jerome School invites students in 4K to eighth grades to participate in a buddy program.
This program has become one of the keys to students’ success.
Students paired together
An older student is partnered with a younger student for the entire school year.
These student buddies complete activities and attend Mass together on Thursdays throughout the school year. The partnership gives the younger students an older friend and mentor that they can look up to for years to come.
Through this friendship, the older students strengthen their leadership skills as they learn how important it is to be a good role model.
Recent activities
Recent buddy activities include completing Thankful Wreaths and a handprint U.S. flag.
The older student buddy helped the younger student think about different things he/she is thankful for and they wrote those ideas on leaves.
The leaves were then attached to a wreath to hang in the hallway.
Buddy students also created a handprint flag together to welcome the community for their Veterans Day program.
The older student buddy helped the younger student trace a handprint and cut it out to place together and form a US flag.
