MADISON — There’s no time like the days of the Easter Triduum to venture to the sidewalk to pray for women and men contemplating abortion, that they might choose life.
As we ponder Christ’s crucifixion and death at Calvary on Good Friday, it is appropriate to remember that Christ died for all our sins, including the sin of abortion committed by so many in our country.
We can do penance for this grave sin and draw closer to our Lord on the cross during the 40 Hours for Life vigil sponsored by Vigil for Life.Beginning at 8 p.m. on Holy Thursday, March 24 and ending at 12 noon on Holy Saturday, March 26, these 40 hours in prayer on the sidewalk in front of the Planned Parenthood Clinic, 3706 Orin Rd., Madison, will be a witness to all that Christ has triumphed over death.
“For many people, work and family schedules preclude them from participating in our 365 for Life campaign on the sidewalk every business day that Planned Parenthood is open,” said Vigil for Life president Laura Karlen. “This special vigil is an opportunity for everyone to return to the sidewalk and witness to the dignity of our unborn brothers and sisters. It is also a way to share in Christ’s agony in the Garden of Gethsemane and His death on Calvary. I don’t think that the timing of this vigil will be lost on anyone.”
