Sr. Janette Wicker, OP, dies
Sister Janette Wicker, OP, died Jan. 29 2023, at St. Elizabeth Manor, Footville, Wis. Her religious name was Sister Juditha. Natural burial took place Feb. 1 in the Motherhouse Cemetery. The funeral Mass was held at the Dominican motherhouse, Sinsinawa, Feb. 10.
Waunakee KCs host FUNdraiser for family
On Sunday, Feb. 12, the Knights of Columbus and St. John the Baptist Parish in Waunakee will be hosting a Super Bowl Sunday tailgate fundraiser, titled “Fetters Family FUNdraiser”, starting at 4 p.m. The event will be held in the gym of St. John the Baptist School at 114 East 3rd St. and there is a suggested $50 entrance fee donation at the door.

In a reflection on Psalm 139, Pope Benedict XVI wrote, “In the second part of the Psalm, God turns his loving gaze upon the human being, whose full and complete beginning is reflected upon. He is still an unformed substance in his mother’s womb: the Hebrew term used has been understood by several biblical experts as referring to an embryo, described in that term as a small, oval, curled-up reality, but on which God has already turned his benevolent and loving eyes . . .”
