Thank you for section on the State of the Diocese (January 10 issue), listing the many accomplishments of Bishop Robert C. Morlino over these past 15 years.
My 12 years of education at Blessed Sacrament Elementary School and Aquinas High School in La Crosse prepared me well for life.
I received an excellent academic education, but more importantly, I learned about my Catholic faith and how to put it into practice in serving others.
But while my education was good for me personally, I didn’t realize at the time that our Catholic schools are also a gift to our country.

But not everyone in our community has a clean, warm blanket to call his or her own this winter, so the Society of St. Vincent de Paul in Dane County is holding its 27th annual Recycle the Warmth blanket drive to collect thousands of donated new and gently used clean blankets and other bedding to give away to families or individuals living in low-income households.MADISON — Damian Lenshek, who joined the Diocese of Madison in October as Manager of Special Projects, has been named Diocesan Director of Cemeteries.
Msgr. James Bartylla, diocesan administrator, and Eric Schiedermayer, director of the diocesan curia, announced that Damian Lenshek has been appointed Diocesan Director of Cemeteries, effective immediately.
Lenshek will take over diocesan cemeteries, while continuing to assist with a number of diocesan projects in the chancery.Our communion with the saints is a reality we too often forget.
