By now the entire country has seen a video of a supposedly racist confrontation, in front of the Lincoln Memorial, between a grinning young high school student and a Native American elder, chanting and beating a drum.

Remember the imprisoned
When Jesus was dying on the cross, one of the thieves being executed with him named Dismas — often called the good thief — turned to Jesus for mercy and asked, “Jesus, remember me when you enter your kingdom” (Luke 23:42).
Jesus turned to him and said, “This day you will be with me in paradise” (Luke 23:43).
Dismas Ministry
We have a national Catholic outreach among prisoners and those affected by crime named Dismas Ministry, which is headquartered in Milwaukee. Their logo represents the cross of Christ and the cross of the repentant criminal side of side.Dismas MinistryJesus turned to him and said, “This day you will be with me in paradise” (Luke 23:43). What makes Catholic education such a ‘gift’
To the editor:
Before Catholic Schools Week, we, the eighth graders, and the seventh graders were asked to reflect on what makes Catholic education such a “gift”. We at St. John the Baptist Catholic School believe:
• Our school is like a family where everyone cares about each other.
All Saints Parish hosts paczki sale
BERLIN — Fat Tuesday is approaching, and the Polish tradition continues. All Saints Parish is having a paczki sale.
These paczkis are made from an old family recipe that contains mashed potatoes. The paczkis are made with the traditional prune-filling, or plain, and then sugar-coated.
Preorders for paczkis are now being taken until February 25. No orders will be accepted after February 25.Night of Worship at St. Peter Parish

Relics of popes available for veneration at Valley of Our Lady Monastery
Simon Peter holds the first place in the college of the [apostles]. . . . Because of the faith he confessed, Peter will remain the unshakeable rock of the Church. His mission will be to keep this faith from every lapse and to strengthen his brothers in it. (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 552)
The Pope, Bishop of Rome and Peter’s successor, “is the perpetual and visible source and foundation of the unity both of the bishops and of the whole company of the faithful.” (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 882; quotation from LG 23)
PRAIRIE DU SAC — During these difficult days in the Church, perhaps our friends the saints can help us and provide a guiding light. We celebrate the feast of the Chair of St. Peter on February 22, so it seems fitting to highlight the role of the papacy and the many popes who have been canonized.
Pro Labore Dei feeds homeless people
The Madison branch of Pro Labore Dei (for the Labor of God) Apostolate has much to be thankful for.
First, we are thankful to God for keeping us moving forward since we first began here in 2001. With God’s help, we have not missed a Friday feeding homeless people in downtown Madison since we started on Friday, Sept. 26, 2003.
Heeding God’s call in a time of darkness
One winter four years ago, I hit bottom. I was a mother of four little ones close in age, and years of exhaustion and isolation were beating me.
With the constant care of my children controlling all of my thoughts and actions, I was becoming a shell, a shadow of my former self, and I needed help.
