At the request of diocesan leadership, Defenbaugh and Associates, an independent security and investigations firm, founded by and composed of veteran agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), has been retained to conduct a full review of all personnel files of the Diocese of Madison.

How Church views the use of cremation
To the editor:
“The Church earnestly recommends that the pious custom of burying the bodies of the deceased be observed; nevertheless, the Church does not prohibit cremation unless it was chosen for reasons”contrary to Christian doctrine” (canon 1176.3).
Fatherhood is an important vocation
Fathers play such an important role in the lives of their children.
My own father died when I was only 16 years old, but he had a profound impact on my life.

I’m sure my father received many of his values from my grandparents and great-grandparents, who are buried in the cemetery at Holy Rosary Parish in Darlington.
Our Lady of Refuge Adoration Chapel groundbreaking
REEDSBURG — Sacred Heart Parish in Reedsburg, along with Friede & Associates, held a Prayer, Dedication, and Groundbreaking Ceremony on May 12 for the Our Lady of Refuge Adoration Chapel.
The event included a dedication prayer with several speakers saying a few words of congratulations to the parish prior to the ceremonial shoveling of the dirt.
Construction plans
Paul Jensen, Sacred Heart’s project manager, indicated that construction of the new building started the next day. “Our goal is to have the construction finished by the first part of September. The dedication is tentatively set for September 22.”Madison parish issues invitation to ‘Called to Grace’ mission
MADISON — Good Shepherd Parish invites those interested in renewing their faith to attend its “Called to Grace” parish mission June 16 to 19.
Sunday and Tuesday will be at St. James Church, 1128 St. James Ct., and Monday and Wednesday evenings at St. Joseph Church, 1905 W. Beltline Hwy.
Fr. Matthew Bonk, a Redemptorist priest from Brooklyn, Minn., will preside over the mission. Each service will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will be followed by refreshments and fellowship at 8 p.m.
