To the editor:
Every hour of the day and of the night in our Perpetual Adoration Chapel at St. Rose Convent in La Crosse, we pray to our “ever faithful God . . . to empower us to witness to the Gospel with courage.”
Since Ash Wednesday, 2014, persons have been praying and witnessing on the sidewalks by Mayo/ Franciscan Medical Center in La Crosse.
For what reason? Because every month perinatalogists from Rochester, Minn., come to see mothers in high risk pregnancies, informing them of all options, including abortion.
Abortion is not health care! Norma McCorvey was well aware of this fact. After the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court’s decision, Norma was dedicated to “spreading the truth about preserving the dignity of all human life from natural conception to natural death.”
I totally agree with Norma. Abortion is the killing of a developing human person (fetus) in a mother’s womb. To deliberately kill — be it a healthy person, a preborn human baby, an infirm or a person with a disability, or to kill by withholding fluids/food or overdosing with narcotics for a “compassionate death” (euthanasia) — is NOT health care. Genesis 9:6 says, ‘’for to kill a person is to kill one made like God.”
Who will speak up for persons who have no voice, no power, save yours and mine?
Therefore, we continue to witness on behalf of persons who have no voice, no power, save ours.
