Q My siblings and I are working together to help my father who is in his 80s and living in the family home.
We have decided to do as much as we can to help him live out his years in the home he loves. The issue is that we are now four months into this and we are having some major disagreements about what it means to support him.
Recently, The Catholic Diocese of Madison Foundation (CDMF) board of directors spent a full day on retreat reviewing their mission within the diocese.
At the prompting of some of my younger colleagues at Word on Fire, I spent time during a recent vacation getting caught up on the History Channel show Vikings.
My friends had told me that Vikings, curiously, is the most religious show on television. They were right.
Don’t get me wrong. There is enough violence, pillaging, plundering, sword-fighting, and political intrigue to satisfy the most macho viewers; but Vikings is also drenched with religion — and for that I applaud Michael Hirst, its sole writer and director.
MADISON — Catholic Charities presents the sixth annual Healthy Aging Conference on Thursday, Oct. 13, at the new All Saints Neighborhood Main Street, 503 Commerce Dr., in Madison.
The daylong conference is devoted to helping seniors, adult children, and professionals who work with older adults become familiar with the scope of alternatives that lead to positive, healthy aging, and introduce them to organizations they can turn to for support.
After he returned from World Youth Day held in Poland, Pope Francis said at his general audience at the Vatican that in a world traumatized by war, young people gathered for World Youth Day gave strong signs of hope and brotherhood.
World Youth Day was a “prophetic sign for Poland and Europe” and took on a “global dimension” in a world threatened by war, Pope Francis said.
MADISON — The Lay Dominicans of Blessed Sacrament Parish in Madison are beginning the Confraternity of the Most Holy Rosary.
The first meeting will be held on Monday, Aug. 22 (Feast of the Queenship of Mary), in Blessed Sacrament Church, 2121 Rowley Ave., from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. The group will continue to meet at this time on the fourth Monday of every month. You do not need to be a member to come and pray with the group.
This is an apostolate of the Dominican Laity at Blessed Sacrament. Meetings will consist of a 15-minute talk about the Mysteries of the Rosary, followed by the recitation of the Rosary.
Incredible as it may seem, in just one week, children in the Diocese of Madison got to experience Mass, prayer, and Bible study, along with games, songs, snacks, and even live theater.
That’s what a normal week at Totus Tuus is like.
