MILWAUKEE — Sister Bernadette (Bernie) Kalscheur, formerly known as Sister Herman, died on August 6 at the age of 92 at Sacred Heart Center in Milwaukee.
She was born to Herman and Helena Kalscheur on January 1, 1921, in Pine Bluff, WI. She was a member of the School Sisters of St. Francis (SSSF) in Milwaukee for the past 76 years.
She is survived by her sister Florence Krantz, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her 15 brothers and sisters and their spouses, Herman (Blanche), Jake (May), John (Marcella), Frank (Dorothy), Josephine (Abel) Gehin, Irene (Richard) Farrell, Lawrence (Armella), Edward (Pat), Mary (Virgil) Hollfelder, Loretta (Tony) Krantz, Theresa (infant), Walter (Virginia), Helen (Vic) Noltner, Joe (Katie), Art (Rose) and brother-in-law Raphael Krantz.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 14, at St. Joseph’s Convent Chapel, 1501 S. Layton Blvd. in Milwaukee at 6 p.m, preceded by a visitation from 4 to 6 p.m.
There will be a Memorial liturgy at 8:40 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 15, followed by the Rite of Committal at Sacred Heart Center, and then burial at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Milwaukee.
