CAMPBELLSPORT — School Sister of St. Francis Mary Jo Forst, who lived her religious vocation in teaching and health care for more than 70 years, died June 23, 2013, at St. Joseph Convent in Campbellsport, Wisconsin. Sister was 91.
The daughter of Joseph and Mary Schlies Forst, she was born July 13, 1921, in Chicago, Illinois. She was received into the School Sisters of St. Francis June 13, 1939; made her first profession of vows June 21, 1941; and final (perpetual) vows June 21, 1947.
Sister Mary Jo is survived by her nieces and nephews; and the School Sisters of St. Francis Community with whom she shared her life for 74 years.
Beginning in 1943, Sister Mary Jo ministered in Nebraska, Wisconsin, Mississippi, Illinois, and Michigan, for more than six decades. In the Diocese of Madison, Sister served as a teacher at Immaculate Conception School in Kieler (1945-1950). She retired in 2001 and served as a volunteer, and later in the ministry of prayer and presence, at St. Joseph Convent in Campbellsport until the time of her death.
A wake and Funeral Liturgy were held June 28, 2013, at St. Joseph Convent, Campbellsport, followed by burial at Sisters Cemetery.
