Blessed Pope John Paul II: Influence continues today

Protecting the highest form of freedom
Dear Friends,
As we celebrated Memorial Day this week, I know that our thoughts and prayers were, and are, very much with our men and women who serve so generously and courageously in the armed forces and those who have gone to see the face of Christ, especially those who have made the supreme sacrifice.

Quote Scripture correctly on issue of homosexuality
To the editor:
Satan sometimes speaks to man by the misapplication of Scripture. We saw this happen when President Obama applied the Golden Rule to support his position on gay marriage.
Christ showed us the way to respond is to quote Scripture correctly (Luke 4). For God’s view on gay activity refer to Deuteronomy 22:5, Leviticus 18:22, 20:13. If we are to apply the Golden Rule to the sin of homosexuality, then what about bestiality, cannibalism, and pedophilia? (Leviticus 18:23, 20:15-16). I hope all would say, “ NO.”
A man for all seasons: We need St. Thomas More’s example today
Back when I was in high school, I first saw the movie A Man for All Seasons about the controversy between King Henry VIII and Sir Thomas More.
Sir Thomas was lord chancellor of England at that time and a loyal member of the Catholic Church. When the king wanted Sir Thomas to approve his marriage to Anne Boleyn after he divorced the queen, Sir Thomas refused.
