SINSINAWA — Sister Janice Costello, OP (Armand), died Nov. 22, 2012, at St. Dominic Villa. The funeral Mass was held in Queen of the Rosary Chapel at Sinsinawa Nov. 27, 2012, followed by burial in the Motherhouse Cemetery.
Sister Janice made her first religious profession as a Sinsinawa Dominican Aug. 5, 1949, and her final profession Aug. 5, 1952. She taught for 25 years and served as principal for nine years, librarian for 19 years, and consultant for one year. Sister Janice served in Minnesota, New York, Iowa, Wisconsin, Alabama, Illinois, Maryland, Georgia, Mississippi and Washington.
Sister Janice was born June 13, 1929, in Oak Park, Ill., the daughter of Walter and Alice (Fay) Costello. Her parents; a sister, Dorothy Weiland; and three brothers, Raymond Costello, Edward Costello, and Walter Costello, preceded her in death. She is survived by nieces, nephews and her Dominican Sisters with whom she shared life for 63 years.
In the Diocese of Madison, Sister Janice served as librarian at Edgewood College, Madison, 1983-1987.
