To the editor:
The Affordable Care Act, funded by half the Medicare budget, offers free condoms, free birth control, and free abortion for all ages. The right of conscience is not protected as it was before the legislation.
Medicare defunding will not be felt until after 2012. The Independent Advisory Board of 15 appointed by our president makes all decisions about who gets what and at what age without input from seniors or politicians. The board is also delegated to defund Medicare by another $200 billion in the next decade.
Ben Nelson (senator from Nebraska) said he would not vote for the Affordable Care Act for some of the reasons stated above. Ben Nelson submitted the vote that passed the legislation. It was passed with 51 votes instead of the usually required 61. A significant number of the 51 senators (including Ben Nelson) are not running for reelection in 2012.
George Stephanopoulos asks of Mitt Romney: “Would you ban contraception?” What did he mean? Did he simply insert the word contraception for abortion?
No one defends abortion. Pro-choice advocates simply point out people who will deny you the right to one.
Barack Obama was elected president denying support for abortion. The first day of his presidency he released funds globally for abortions by executive order.
Just as we, as a country, caused the death of 4,000 U.S. soldiers in the 10 years we were in Iraq, we are responsible for killing 10 million U.S. babies in that same period of time. Iraq may be over but the killing continues in the abortion clinics; and it’s free.
