To the editor:
Abortion plays a huge role in Planned Parenthood’s care of pregnant women. According to a “fact sheet” detailing its “services” for 2009, 332,278 abortions were performed, 7,021 prenatal clients were seen, and 977 adoption referrals were made. That means for 97.6 percent of its 340,276 pregnant clients, abortion was Planned Parenthood’s primary “service.”
Planned Parenthood has been in the business of abortion since 1970, steadily performing more abortions even though the national abortion rate has annually declined.
Recently in Washington, D.C., for the first time the Senate was forced to go on record over whether they approve using Americans’ tax dollars to support the nation’s largest abortion provider, Planned Parenthood. The 54 to 48 vote made clear which U.S. senators promote the interests of the politically influential abortion lobby rather than the lives and safety of preborn babies, women, and families. How did your senator vote?
Throughout the congressional debate over funding, the abortion lobby tried to praise their “women health services.” It doesn’t take much investigation to find the truth of their “services.”
An overwhelming majority of Americans, whether pro-life or pro-abortion, oppose the use of state and federal monies to support killing preborn babies. Why, during these troubled economic times, should taxpaying Americans continue to give huge amounts of money to the federal and state governments for Planned Parenthood?
Are you aware of the amount of money that Planned Parenthood receives? Contact your U.S. senator, informing him of your response as to how he voted, for or against defunding Planned Parenthood.
