To the editor:
I read in Kathleen Parker’s column recently that Michelle Obama, our new First Lady, said: “Barack will never allow you to go back to your lives as usual, uninvolved, uninformed . . .”
Be informed of these facts: January 22, 2009, was the 36th anniversary of Roe vs. Wade, giving women the right to choose abortion. An estimated 50 MILLION human beings have been killed since 1973. About one-third of the current generation has been eliminated by this “Right to Choose.”
Since 1973, abortion has reduced the African-American population by over 25 percent. About 13 percent of American women are African-American, but they submit to over 35 percent of abortions. An unborn African-American baby is five times more likely to die from abortion as a Caucasian baby because of the high abortion rate among African-Americans.
Yet, President Obama promised in his campaign to quickly enact the Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA) which would undo the legislation already in place, laws which the pro-life movement worked hard for. The FOCA would allow abortion to proliferate throughout our great country. This would include the procedure known as partial-birth abortion.
President Obama said, after moving into the Oval Office, that it was a moment to recall “that all are equal, all are free, and all deserve a chance to pursue their full measure of happiness.” That can only happen if one has a chance at life, Mr. President.
