Madison-Ghana dioceses work together
On Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2008, at 6 p.m. Fr. Steve Umhoefer and Carl Brey, both of Nativity of Mary Parish in Janesville, departed Madison for a trip to Ghana so that they could evaluate several aspects of the Global Solidarity Partnership (GSP) between the Catholic Diocese of Navrongo-Bolgatanga (N/B) in the Upper East Region of Ghana and the Diocese of Madison.
Bishop joins Portage parish in celebrating 175 years
St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Parish celebrated its 175th anniversary of parish life on December 8, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, and though the snowstorm that dropped about 6.5 inches by the following afternoon kept some from attending, including Bishop Robert C. Morlino and the parish’s oldest parishioner, the event was well-attended according to reports.

Other ways besides force to promote justice, peace
To the editor:
Jesus Christ, Prince of Peace, empowers and commands us to love our enemies, do good to those who hate us, be compassionate as God is, avoid judging and condemning others (cf. Luke’s gospel, chapter 6). Does this not seem to be the antithesis of making war or responding to warlike actions of others?
Agree with priest on not supporting the military

I wholeheartedly agree with Fr. Jim Murphy’s December letter that Catholics should not participate in the U.S. military when it is fighting an unjust war in Iraq.
