To the editor:
As the manager of a free clinic, I see the growing needs of the uninsured every day. It is my hope we have health care coverage for everyone soon, as I believe it is a right of every citizen.
I do not want abortions covered by the proposed legislation and paid for with tax dollars. Abortions kill and can cause a person to feel a great deal of guilt and regret. It is heartbreaking to see people enduring such enormous self-inflicted grief!
Instead, I believe our tax dollars should be used, whenever possible, to help people in need and in the long run, strive to build a sense of well-being and self-esteem.
We see everyday people with poor self-esteem who are hurting and who continually go out of their way to hurt others. The cycle needs to be broken not replicated.
My granddaughter, Grace, has Down Syndrome, and I believe that she is a special gift from God. She will teach us much more about loving and compassion than we could ever imagine.
Grace teaches us heart-to-heart. We are very lucky to be blessed with her teachings. She is our little angel! I pray more people would give angels like Grace the opportunity to live and teach us their special lessons as well. She is our amazing Grace!
