To the editor:
Back in 2003, in the weeks and days leading up to the invasion of Iraq, a small number of us decried the Bush administration’s rush to war. We said that the war was ill-advised, illegal, unwarranted, immoral, and based on lies. We were castigated, vilified, pilloried, and pretty much drowned out on the op-ed pages of the Catholic Herald.
Time has shown that we were correct.
So where are those legions of Bush-war backers now? Are they silent? Are they humbled? Did they learn anything at all in the ensuing years?
Apparently not. Now those same or similar voices are castigating, vilifying, and pillorying Fr. Jim Murphy for daring to speak his simple truth.
