To the editor:
I was privileged to be a part of the large group protesting the abortion plans at the Madison Surgery Center on Thursday, Jan. 8. We were a peaceful and hopeful people. But there is more work to be done!
I want to urge all Catholics to write a letter to the three main parties involved: UW Hospital, UW Medical Foundation, and Madison Surgery Center.
Main talking points could be:
- Abortion is an elective procedure
- Abortion is not part of comprehensive health care
- Abortion is not good for women, families, or clearly, the babies involved.
- This would tarnish the good reputation of the hospitals in our city.
- The tissue from these abortions will likely be used for UW research programs, introducing a huge conflict of interest: More abortions, more research, more money.
Dr. Caryn Dutton of UW is already an abortionist for Planned Parenthood and serves as the assistant medical director on their board. Why does she want to extend her practice into the public hospitals?
Public relations rule of thumb: For every one letter written, there are 10 more like-minded people in the community. Every letter counts!
“It’s better to light even one candle than curse the darkness.” Light a candle — write a letter!
