Pray: Peace is possible
This may be the shortest editorial I've written. The message is simple: pray for peace. Each day we hear about more violence and upheaval in the world. What can we do?
The Master General of the Dominican Order believes that prayer is the answer. He has called the Dominican Family around the world to join together in prayer for peace on Thursday, Sept. 21, designated by the United Nations as International Peace Day.
Master General Brother Carlos Azpiroz Costa says, "We believe, as you do, that Jesus Christ calls us to be peacemakers and praying together is a sign of our belief that peace is possible."
The Sinsinawa Dominican Sisters invite the public to join them to pray for peace Thursday, Sept. 21, at Sinsinawa Mound. The service will be held at 12:30 p.m. and will include prayer, song, and readings.
If you can't go there, join them in spirit by attending Mass, praying the Rosary, or offering other prayers for peace - on September 21 and every day throughout the year.
