Michael John Poirier in concert
at Dells

WISCONSIN DELLS -- An evening of song and inspiration by Michael John Poirier will be held at St. Cecilia Church, 604 Oak St., on Monday, July 11, at 7 p.m.

The concert, sponsored by the Knights of Columbus, will benefit St. Cecilia's sister parish in Haiti and Holy Family Apostolate.

The public is invited and tickets are $6. For more information, call 608-253-5621.

Organ concert series

SINSINAWA -- The Summer Organ Concert Recital series continues with the 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 6 concert featuring Dr. Karen Black and 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 13 concert featuring Joanne Wright.

The concerts will take place in Queen of the Rosary Chapel at Sinsinawa Mound and are free and open to the public.

Theater Bus

MADISON -- Theater Bus for people over 60 is accepting reservations for upcoming events. Call 608-257-0003 for reservations before the July 6 deadline or until full for these outings:

Unforgettable -- Theater Bus will journey to the Drendel Ballroom in Sun City, Ill., on Friday, July 22, where harmony Productions will present a program of familiar hit songs. A choice of luncheon entrees will precede the show. Cost, including transportation, is $53.

• Lake Geneva Boat Tour -- Sail on the Lady of the Lakes for a narrated tour of Lake Geneva on Thursday, July 28. Lunch will be served beforehand at Millie's Restaurant in Delavan. Tour, lunch, and transportation are included for $47.

Kids from Wisconsin

LAKE MILLS -- Due to the recent storm damage to the Performing Arts Center in Jefferson, the Kids From Wisconsin performance will be moved to Lake Mills on Saturday, July 9, at 7:30 p.m.

The show will take place in the air-conditioned gymnasium at Lakeside Lutheran High School, which is located at 231 Woodland Beach Rd. in Lake Mills.

Tickets for the July 9 performance are on sale now. Tickets are $12. To order, call the Council for the Performing Arts at 920-674-2179, or visit their office at 100 N. Main St. Suite A in Jefferson.

Jefferson Performing Arts season tickets

JEFFERSON -- The Council for the Performing Arts season tickets are now available for the 2005-2006 season, "That's Entertainment!" Last year's season ticket holders should order their tickets by July 29 to guarantee the same seats as last year.

The 2005-2006 season "That's Entertainment" runs from October to March and will feature the Glenn Miller Orchestra; Irish band, Gaelic Storm; Missoula Children's Theatre's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs; three comedians from The Good Humor Men, the Nebraska Theatre Caravan's production of A Christmas Carol; The Lowe Family direct from Branson; The Black Cat's Music and Dance with Nego Gato; The McNulty Irish Dancers and Donnybrook; Michael Cooper's Masked Marvels and Wondertales and Watertown's own First Brigade Band.

Monday, July 4, 8 p.m., WHA (PBS) -- A Capitol Fourth (2005). America's birthday spectacular celebrates 25 years on the air with stars Gloria Estefan, the Beach Boys, the O'Jays, and Ronan Tynan. Hosted by Barry Bostwick. Erich Kunzel leads the National Symphony Orchestra.

Monday, July 4, 9 p.m., WKOW (ABC) -- Bank of America Presents: An American Celebration at Ford's Theatre - Salute to the Troops. Comedian Jeff Foxworthy hosts a tribute to the armed forces before a live audience that will include many Washington dignitaries. Stars slated to appear include Geena Davis, Hilary Duff, Josh Gracin, Denyce Graves, Jesse McCartney, Julie Roberts, members of the Debbie Allen Dance Academy, and the Singing Sergeants, the official chorus of the Air Force. Taped on June 12.

Monday, July 4, 9 p.m., WISC (CBS) -- Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular. Harry Smith and Jann Carol host the annual celebration from the Charles River Esplanade in Boston, as the Pops perform the "1812 Overture" to fireworks accompaniment under the direction of conductor Keith Lockhart.

Tuesday, July 5, 9 p.m., WHA (PBS) -- "Street Fight." Airing on the P.O.V. series, Marshall Curry's film, which sheds light on questions about democracy, power, poverty, and race, tells a David and Goliath story as it follows the turbulent campaign of Cory Booker, a 32-year-old Rhodes Scholar and Yale Law School graduate running for mayor of Newark, N.J., against Sharpe Jones, the four-term incumbent twice his age.


Radio Programs of Note

Sunday, July 3, 9 a.m., Relevant Radio (1240 AM) -- Relevant 2 U. This locally produced magazine-style program features people, events, and Catholic issues in the Diocese of Madison. Special guests: Bishop Robert C. Morlino's visit to Schoenstatt Heights; Tom Hanlon, Catholic funerals and cemeteries; Parish spotlight: St. Bernard, Madison. Repeats 9 a.m. Friday and 12 noon Saturday.

Monday-Friday, 6 a.m., Relevant Radio (1240 AM) -- Morning Air. This morning show has listeners tuning in for a blend of entertainment, information, and interviews. Morning AirTM talks about life in terms of faith in the workplace; time management; current affairs; movie reviews; realistic looks at media and entertainment.

Monday-Friday, 3 p.m., Relevant Radio (1240 AM) -- The Drew Mariani Show. This program aims at opening a daily dialogue with Catholics across America on the topics that matter most.
