Monday, Jan.12, 7 p.m., WKOW (ABC) -- Enemy of the State (1998). Glossy political thriller in which a Georgetown lawyer (Will Smith) is being framed for murder by a corrupt government surveillance agent (Jon Voight) unless a mysterious former agent (Gene Hackman) can outsmart the operative at his own game. Tony Scott directs a relentlessly high-tech chase film that by stressing elaborate surveillance gizmos and tracking satellites fails to become emotionally involving. Sporadic violence, sexual references, some profanity, and intermittent rough language. The USCCB Office for Film & Broadcasting classification of the theatrical version was A-III - adults. The Motion Picture Association of America rating was R - restricted.
Monday, Jan. 12, 8 p.m., EWTN (cable) -- Beatification of Mother Teresa. Hosts Bob and Penny Lord travel to Rome for Mother Teresa's beatification on Oct. 19, 2003. Repeats 4 p.m. Jan. 16.

Friday, Jan. 16, 3:30 a.m., EWTN (cable) -- Making Abortion Rare: "Understanding the Keys to Ending Abortion." Built on an understanding of the ways in which abortion hurts women physically, psychologically, and spiritually, Making Abortion Rare offers a three pronged strategy for ending abortion through a program of pastoral, political,
and educational reform. This approach will create a healing environment for those who have been emotionally wounded by abortion, will draw Americans together through their common concern for women, and will enforce proper civil liability for abortion related injuries which will literally shut down the abortion industry. Drs. Reardon and Burke provide readers with a practical strategy for making abortion not simply illegal, but unthinkable. Repeats 5 p.m.
Saturday, Jan. 17, 7 p.m., WKOW (ABC) -- Liar Liar (1997). Unremarkable comedy in which a divorced dad (Jim Carrey) who is a habitual liar, especially defending clients in court, is thrown for a loss when his little boy's birthday wish that Dad stop lying comes true. Directed by Tom Shadyac. Carrey's eccentric brand of physical humor is the only reason to see this sappy but occasionally risque tale of a father learning about honesty and caring from his child. Brief comic violence, some sexual references, and an instance of
profanity. The USCCB Office for Film & Broadcasting classification of the theatrical version was A-III - adults. The Motion Picture Association of America rating was PG-13 - parents are strongly cautioned. Some material may be inappropriate for children under 13.
Saturday, Jan. 17, 7 p.m., WMTV (NBC) -- As Good as It Gets (1997). Acerbic comedy in which a misanthropic author (Jack Nicholson) tries to rejoin the human race after falling in love with a tolerant waitress (Helen Hunt) and befriending a broke, homosexual artist (Greg Kinnear). Directed by James L. Brooks, the thin plot begins with the mean-spirited humor of Nicholson's nasty, self-centered sociopath, then turns mushy as he attempts to reform, but the proceedings are overlong and only sporadically amusing. Stylized violence, sexual situations, recurring rough language, and occasional profanity. The USCCB Office for Film & Broadcasting classification of the theatrical version was A-IV - adults, with reservations. The Motion Picture Association of America rating was PG-13 - parents are strongly cautioned. Some material may be inappropriate for children under 13.
