Film series about Jewish women
MADISON -- The Wisconsin Historical Museum, 30 N. Carroll St. on the Capitol Square, presents a series of films in conjunction with the traveling exhibit "Unpacking on the Prairie: Jewish Women in the Upper Midwest."
Stacy Schiff of Jewish Social Services and teacher of the Jewish Image in Film, Literature, and Culture at Midrasha, Madison's Hebrew High School, will introduce each film and lead a discussion afterward. There will also be time to view the exhibit.
The films include "The Jazz Singer," 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 8; "Gentlemen's Agreement," 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 15; "Crossing Delancy," 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 12; "The Chosen," 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 19; and "They Came for Good," 1 and 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 26.
Admission is free. There is a suggested donation of $4 for adults, $3 for children, and $10 for families. For more information, call 608-264-6555.
Epiphany concert at Sinsinawa
SINSINAWA -- Feeling those post-holiday blues? Rejuvenate your spirit and start the new year off on a positive note by attending the annual Epiphany Concert and Evening Prayer at Sinsinawa Mound.
The free performance by the Civic Chorus will be held Sunday, Jan. 5, at 4 p.m. in the Queen of the Rosary Chapel. The event celebrates the conclusion of the Christmas season.

Quartet to present free concert
MADISON -- Giving - "that's what the holidays are all about," says director Jim Latimer, founder of the Madison Marimba Quartet.
The quartet will play the "Our Gift to You" free concert on Saturday, Dec. 28, at 2 p.m. at the UW-Madison School of Music in Mills Hall located at the corner of Park St. and University Ave.
The free concert is open to the community. Other quartet members Tim Gruber, Tom Shaver, and Matt Peters say they never tire of giving their gift of music at this time of year and consider it healing and peace-filled.

Tuesday, Dec. 31, 10 p.m., WHA (PBS) - "Richard Rodgers Gala." Broadway legends perform songs by composer Richard Rodgers, in celebration of his 100th birthday.

Depicting all the stages of growth, including the birthing process and beyond, this special displays life as a continuous whole, invalidating any reason to disregard or devalue a human life due to any apparent weakness or vulnerability. Sunday, Jan. 5, 12:30 p.m., EWTN (cable) - "A Musical Offering from the Vatican: A Papal Concert." From the Pope Paul VI Hall in the Vatican comes this concert in honor of His Holiness Pope John Paul II, featuring a select program of classics by Brahms, Penderecki, and Dvorak.
Sunday, Jan. 5, 6 p.m., EWTN (cable) - "Franciscan University Presents: Life-Giving Marriages." Catholic author and speaker Kimberly Hahn discusses the papal encyclical Humanae Vitae - the impact it had on her marriage and how couples can open up to God's design for their marriage and families.
