Chamber concerts
MADISON -- The Oakwood Chamber Players will present their first concert, "Measure for Measure," on Saturday, Oct. 5, at Oakwood Village Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday, Oct. 6, at First Unitarian Society at 3 p.m.
The remaining concerts include: "Christmas Lights" - Nov. 29 and Dec. 1; "Fantasies and Diversions" - Jan. 25 and 26; "Steppin' Out-The Spring Soiree"- April 4 and 5; and "Amusing the Muse" - May 21 and June 1.
Individual tickets are $12 for adults, $8 for senior citizens, and $5 for students. For tickets or additional information, call 608-230-4316.
'Sunday Afternoon Live'
MADISON -- "Sunday Afternoon Live from the Elvehjem" welcomes Parry Karp, cello, and Howard Karp, piano, on Sunday, Oct. 6, at 12:30 p.m. in Brittingham Gallery III.
This father-son duo has been a favorite in Madison for years. Last season they performed Bach transcriptions for cello and piano.
There will be a reception after the performance; a free docent-led tour of the Elvehjem Museum begins at 2 p.m.
"Sunday Afternoon Live from the Elvehjem" is a free weekly chamber music series presented by the Elvehjem Museum of Art and Wisconsin Public Radio, with the cooperation of the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Music. The series, hosted by music commentator Lori Skelton, is broadcast live on Wisconsin Public Radio stations, including WERN, 88.7 Madison.
TV caregivers program
MADISON -- Wisconsin Public Television (WPT) will air "And Thou Shalt Honor" at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, a documentary that focuses on caregiving - those who provide it for their loved ones and those who need it.
During the broadcast, a crew of studio-based volunteers from the Wisconsin Caregiver Coalition will be available for phone calls at 1-800-348-9529.
On Thursday, Oct. 10, portalwisconsin.org will host a live Web chat about long-term care. The chat will run from 7 to 8 p.m.
People who can't be a part of the chat during its scheduled time may submit questions or comments ahead of time and then check back for a response. A transcript of the chat will be archived on portalwisconsin.org.
Concert series
MADISON -- The Edgewood College Music Department announces the first in a series of Concerts on Campus for this semester.
The Edgewood Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Blake Walter, will be performing with pianist, Trevor Stephenson, on Sunday, Oct. 6, at 2:30 p.m. in the St. Joseph Chapel, located on the Edgewood College campus.
Tickets may be purchased at the door. $4 for general admission or free with an Edgewood ID.

MADISON -- The Edgewood College Music Department announces the student recital of Melanie Birkeland, pianist.

Wednesday, Oct. 9, 7 p.m., WHA (PBS) - "And Thou Shalt Honor." Special deals with caring for aging parents, spouses, and friends, a topical subject as this century will mark a huge increase in the elderly population, starting with the baby-boomer generation.
Wednesday, Oct. 9, 7 p.m., WHA (PBS) - "National Geographic Specials - Egypt Eternal: The Quest for Lost Tombs." This special looks at French archaeologist Alain Zivie's discovery of tombs built for high-ranking dignitaries of Egypt's New Kingdom period. Repeats 11:30 p.m. Oct. 10.
