Concerts on the Rooftop
MADISON -- Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center will feature the Westside Andy & Mel Ford Band as part of the "Bank One Concerts on the Rooftop" series on Thursday, July 18.
Westside Andy & Mel Ford will play their infectious brand of rhythm and blues. The concert is free and open to the public and will begin at 5:30 p.m. on the Monona Terrace rooftop.
Sandwiches, popcorn, beer, wine, and soft drinks are available for purchase beginning at 5 p.m. In case of inclement weather, the concert will be moved indoors to the Exhibition Hall.
Monona Terrace is located at One John Nolen Dr. Parking is available in the Monona Terrace parking ramp for a nominal fee. For further information call 608-261-4000 or TTY 608-261-4150.
Crane Foundation activities
BARABOO -- The International Crane Foundation will present two activities in July.
On Thursday, July 18, Dr. George Archibald will host a presentation on blacknecked cranes. A social hour will begin at 6 p.m. followed by the program at 7.

On Saturday, July 20, from 9 to 5, the foundation will host a flower power and neighbor appreciation day.
The day offers free admission to Sauk County residents or employees. There will be tours of the prairie, workshops on creating backyard prairies and gardening tips.
Maxwell Street Days entertainment
MADISON -- The Maxwell Street Days Music Stage will present entertainment on Friday and Saturday, July 19 and 20.
The music is part of the Maxwell Street Days sidewalk sale on State St. in downtown Madison. The entertainment stage is located in the 200 block of State St. and is also a benefit for the Second Harvest Food Bank of Southern Wisconsin. Admission is free and the public is encouraged to bring non-perishable food donations.
Entertainment on Friday, July 19, will include: at 1 p.m. - the Gibraltar Rockets; at 3 p.m. - Kelly DeHaven; at 4:30 p.m. - Erica Mather; on Saturday, July 19, at 1 and 2:30 - Groove Project for Kids.

Highlights of the four days in 2000 of the Jubilee for Youth and XV World Youth Day in Rome - a detailed account of each day's activities and the bonding that took place between the Holy Father and the more than two million youth. Repeats 10 p.m. July 19.

Sunday, July 21, 6 p.m., WKOW (ABC) - "Babe: Pig in the City" (1998). Darker sequel to the 1995 hit in which the farmer's wife (Magda Szubanski) takes the plucky title porker (voice of E.G. Daily) to the city, but when she's wrongly arrested, Babe and a gaggle of homeless animals he befriends have to fend for themselves against starvation and the machinations of nasty humans. Directed by George Miller, the less endearing sequel retains the polite pig's innocence and generosity, but some of the perilous situations may be a bit intense for very young children. The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops classification of the theatrical version was A-I - general patronage. The Motion Picture Association of America rating was G - general audiences.
Monday, July 22, 8 p.m., WHA (PBS) - "The Patient's Eyes." From the "Mystery" series, four new episodes about the real-life model for Sherlock Holmes; in the opening episode young Dr. Doyle (Charles Edwards) is baffled by a beautiful woman (Katie Blake) whose apparent hallucinations about a masked cyclist pursuing her turn out to be true. Repeats 11:30 p.m. July 24.
Wednesday, July 24, 7 p.m., WHA (PBS) - "Glacier Lodges." From the "Great Lodges of the National Parks" series, a look at three in Montana including Glacier Park Lodge whose atrium is modeled after early Christian basilicas in Rome.
Thursday, July 25, 7 p.m., WKOW (ABC) - "Metro" (1997). Tedious action thriller in which a foul-mouthed San Francisco cop (Eddie Murphy) tracks down a foul-mouthed psychotic killer (Michael Wincott), then tracks him down again after he escapes jail. Directed by Thomas Carter, the formula plot puts its one-dimensional characters through overly contrived situations of intense menace and bloody mayhem. Excessive violence, a flash of nudity, and recurring rough language. The U. S. Conference of Catholic Bishops classification of the theatrical version was O - morally offensive. The Motion Picture Association of America rating was R - restricted.
Friday, July 26, 7 p.m., A&E (cable) - "Gracie Allen." From the "Biography" series, a profile of the Irish comedienne, dancer, and actress best known as the scatterbrained half of the Burns and Allen comedy team who actually preferred being out of the spotlight and who was happily married to George Burns for 38 years until her death in 1964.
